Relevant section: Understand the admin dashboard
This article will walk you through all of the prep work that needs to be completed before you begin to deploy Kisi to your end-users. The steps below are to configure the web dashboard after the Kisi devices are installed. For setup guides for Kisi devices, check out the Installation section.
Step 1 - Access your Kisi account
After purchasing Kisi and upon shipment, we will create your Organization and associate the devices to your account for you. The account owner will receive an email when the Kisi Organization is ready to be accessed.
The account owner has the highest level of control over the Kisi account.
Get familiar with the basics of your account, from understanding your account settings to exploring the ins and outs of your dashboard.
Step 2 - Set up SSO/SCIM (if applicable)
If you subscribed to Kisi Organizations with SSO/SCIM (premium add-on), we recommend configuring your IdP metadata in the Kisi Dashboard before proceeding to the next steps. The option to edit and see the SSO/SCIM settings is only available to the Organization Owner.
Step 3 - Create Doors
Doors are the Kisi representation of physical doors in your space. Each door is wired to up to four relays on the Kisi Controller. On the admin dashboard, doors need to be associated with their corresponding controller, relay and reader, so they can be managed properly.
Start by creating all the doors for each place you have in the Organization. You will need to create a door in the Kisi dashboard for each door you want to control in your space.
Step 4 - Configure the Kisi Controllers
See: Associate Door to the Controller in Create and Configure a Door
Associate each Kisi Controller relay to a door. This needs to match what was physically wired to the Controller relay.
Step 5 - Configure the Kisi Readers
See: Associating Doors to Readers
Associate each Reader to the door.
Step 6 - Create Groups/Teams
Access to doors can be managed through Groups/Teams. Whoever is in the group, has access to linked doors subject to the group restrictions.
To have more control over how and when users can access places, you can configure restrictions that can be applied to a group by location, time, or device.
Step 7 - Add Users
When you are ready to go live, you can add users. There are several ways to add users: manually, import via CSV or integration.
As you add users to Kisi, you will have the option to add them to groups. Only users that belong to groups will receive an invitation email and access to the doors. Users that are part of several groups will gain the access rights of the group with the most permissions.
Step 8 - Connect an integration
Automate your workflows by connecting your other business tools to Kisi. See all our available integrations or create a custom integration with our Open API.
