Kisi Controller Pro 1 is capable of connecting to a network via a wired ethernet connection. It supports 10Mbps and 100Mbps operation.
Wifi Network Frequency
Kisi Controller Pro 1 can operate on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies.
The Kisi Controller Pro only makes outbound connections, so you have to configure the TCP ports if you have a firewall that prevents outbound connections. Below are the ports that you need to open:

The wifi chip will attempt to connect via TCP port 31314. If this fails, they will attempt to use TCP port 993, which is typically open by default for email traffic. Our wifi chip does not use UDP. Ports 443/80 are used to request and transfer wifi chip updates. This port is typically open by default for HTTP/HTTPS. The wifi chip we use is able to connect across multiple levels of firewall and NAT (Network Address Translation), so NAT firewalls work fine with Kisi. Be sure to have your IT administrator unblock the necessary ports before connecting your Kisi Controller Pro 1.1.
Enterprise Wifi Network
Kisi Controller Pro 1 does not currently support enterprise-level wifi authentication, 802.1x, which requires that you log in with a username and password as well as the customary SSID. You will not be able to connect your Kisi to such a network unless this is downgraded to a 802.11n wifi operating in the 5GHz band. It is also compatible with 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g networks as well.
Captive Hotspot Network
The wifi chip does not support networks which require a user to enter login details before network access is granted. This is most commonly encountered with public hotspots and some guest networks in office environments (rarely for home-based wifi networks).
Kisi Controller Pro 1 does not require an open network for it to work. It can operate on WPA, WPA2, and Open networks.
We always recommend setting up your Kisi to work with two networking options of connecting to the Kisi Cloud: ethernet and wifi. So, we recommend that your Kisi Controller Pro 1 is installed next to your wifi router. In the unlikely case that your Ethernet goes down, wifi can act as a backup.
If the Kisi Controller Pro 1 is installed in an area with no wifi connection, you should set up a dedicated 4G hotspot. This works for places where the wifi signal is out of reach, such as your lobby door when your office is located on the 10th floor of the building.
