Relevant section: Create your first door
Creating a door in the Kisi Dashboard enables a virtual button inside your Kisi App. Each door is wired to one of four relays on the Kisi Controller. On the Kisi Dashboard, doors need to be associated with their corresponding Controller and relay as well as to a reader, so they can be managed properly.
The number of doors to be created in the admin dashboard will vary depending on how many controllers in the system and if there are other devices such as elevators, gates, and turnstiles.
Create doors
To create doors:
- Sign into Kisi
- Open your Place
- Click on Doors
- Select Add Door
- Enter a name and description for your door. All of your users will see the name of the door in their Kisi app.
- Click Add
Associate Door to the Controller
Now that you have created the door, you will need to associate it to your Kisi Controller.
- On the dashboard, click on Hardware
- Click on the desired Controller you see on the screen
- Click on Relays. This corresponds to the numbered relay on the Kisi Controller Pro to which the door was physically wired. Select the correct relay and input in the corresponding lock name.
- 'Duration' relates to how many seconds the door will remain unlocked. It defaults for 3 seconds. You can adjust it for up to 30 seconds.
- Click Save.
Next, if you have wired Contact Sensors and/or Request to Exit (REX) devices to the Kisi controller, you will want to configure them, as well.
Not all setups have Contact Sensors and/or Request to Exit buttons connected. Please confirm with your installer that these accessories were wired to the Kisi Controller. Otherwise, configuring them in the Kisi without the proper equipment wired may result in false reporting on the dashboard.
Configure Contact Sensors and/or REX (if applicable):
- Click on 'Hardware' again on the dashboard.
- Click on the desired Controller you see on the screen
- Choose Contact Sensors / Request To Exits. This corresponds to the numbered input on the Kisi Controller Pro the contact sensor/ REX to which the contact sensor/REX was physically wired. Select the correct input number, then select the corresponding lock name.
- Confirm the sliding button is "Enabled"
- Click Save.
It is time to test your new Kisi enabled door!
- If your Kisi hardware has not been installed yet: Make an unlock from the Kisi app and listen for a click coming from the relays on the Kisi board. You should hear an audible click each time you press the unlock button.
- If your Kisi hardware has already been installed: When you unlock your door via mobile app or desktop, your door should unlock.
FAQ
- I deleted a door by mistake and now I can not get in, what should I do?
Mistakes happen, if you delete a door by mistake you need to re-create it again according to the steps above, remembering to associate it to the hardware, as well. - I am unable to add more doors, what should I do?
In case you are unable to add a new door, you might have hit the door limit of your current subscription. If the error message states so, you can double-check under the Billing section on your admin dashboard. Either delete another door or reach out to Kisi Support to change your subscription if you wish to have more doors.
