This article relates to the access restrictions feature.
Why use the reader restriction?
When you enable the Kisi Reader Restriction, it requires users to be within the range of a Kisi Reader to unlock a door. You can enable the reader restriction for your entire place (everyone trying to access any doors at your place will be affected) individual doors (everyone trying to access the door will be affected) or groups (anyone in the group trying to access doors for that particular group will be affected). You can read more about restriction levels here.
The Reader restriction requires that all iPhone users enable Bluetooth and location services. Android users must enable NFC and location. Users must be within the Bluetooth/NFC range of the Kisi Reader outside of their door in order to unlock the door.
How to set it up
As an admin, you can enable/disable this feature for the entire place by going to your Settings and choosing Kisi Reader Restriction. To do so for a specific door, go through Doors and enable/disable it instead. You can also set it for a group by going through Groups.
FAQ
- Why can I not open the door even though I am standing next to it when the reader restriction is enabled?
The most common explanation is that the location settings and the Bluetooth Sharing /NFC are not enabled correctly. To double-check you can enter the Kisi App, choose Settings, and Introduction. Follow the steps and make sure that all the necessary settings are enabled. If the issue persists, reach out to Kisi Support.
