Two-factor authentication is a method through which a user claimed identity is confirmed. This identification process uses a combination of two different components to verify the authenticity of the identity claimed. 2FA is a type of multi-factor authentication. This authentication process is used in everyday life to ensure security.
Enable 2FA
To enable 2FA:
- Sign in to the Kisi
- On the upper right-hand corner, click on your name and select Security from the dropdown menu
- Scroll down and enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
- After you've enabled 2FA for your account, you will need to verify your password again.
- Once you've verified your password, you will need to download the Google Authenticator App (available for iPhone and Android) and scan the QR code. If you cannot scan the QR, you need to press the option Can't Scan It and follow the steps to manually enter the key.
- Once you've scanned the QR code with the Authenticator App you will enter the 6-digit code that appears in the app, then click Verify.
- Once you've verified the Authenticator code, you will see a confirmation screen. Click on Show My Backup Codes to view your backup codes and download/print them.
- Safe your backup codes somewhere safe and click Finish, when you are done
Backup Codes
Each backup code can only be used once.
Once you've verified your Google Authenticator code and confirmed your account, you now have the option of saving your backup codes. Backup codes are used to access your account in the event you cannot receive 2FA codes. Make sure to download and/or print the backup codes and keep them somewhere safe but accessible.
You can generate new backup codes by following these steps:
- Sign in to the Kisi Dashboard
- On the upper right-hand corner, click on your name and select Security from the dropdown menu
- Click on Generate New Backup Codes
- Enter your password and you will be shown the new backup codes
Disable 2FA
To disable 2FA:
- Sign in to the Kisi Dashboard
- On the upper right-hand corner, click on your name and select Security from the dropdown menu
- Toggle off Two Factor Authentication
- On the next screen, click Turn Off
- Enter your password. Once verified, you will receive a message that you've successfully disabled 2FA.
