Relevant section: Understand the admin dashboard
Welcome to Kisi! We know that getting used to a new tool can take some time, so we'll walk you through the core concepts you need to know to get up and running with Kisi in no time!
The Kisi Dashboard is your portal to controlling your Kisi system. This is the tool you will use to issue access, configure your devices, set permissions and restrictions, integrate with other software, and get alerts about the status of your Kisi system. Think of it as your all-in-one control panel.
Account Owner/Master Admin
Each Kisi place has one account owner/master admin associated to a Kisi profile. That profile will be created using the email address of your choice, i.e. - "admin@getkisi.com". Once you've decided on the email address that will act as your account owner/master admin, you will want to go here and create a Kisi profile. After you have confirmed your profile, Kisi can transfer your place to you. Reach out to Kisi Support to request your place transfer.
Creating & Configuring Doors to Kisi Devices
Once Kisi has transferred your place to your Kisi profile, it's time to configure your place to your ideal specifications.
First, you will want to Create and Configure Your Doors. Feel free to get as creative as you'd like!
Next, you will need to Associate your Door(s) to your Reader(s). This will connect your door(s) to the Kisi hardware.
Once you've configured your doors to your Kisi devices, you are now ready to test your locks. Select the Dashboard option, then scroll down to Quick Access. You should see a list of your doors and to the right a blue Lock Icon. By clicking the Lock Icon you will trigger the door. You are now unlocking with Kisi!
Customizing Kisi Access
Now that your doors are Kisi enabled, you will need to issue access to your members. The best way to go about this is to create Groups. Groups allow you to share access to an entire pool of users, all with similar permissions and restrictions to the same doors. Say, for instance, you would like to have a "Staff Group" that would allow members to access the building between the hours of 9 am-5 pm. Simply create the "Staff Group" and set a Time Restriction for the desired hours. Now, any member you share access to within this group will be able to unlock the doors between 9 am-5 pm.
After you've created your groups, you can now Add your Members! While adding your members you are able to decide which members you'd like to give additional Permissions. Kisi recommends having at least one Secondary Admin who can make any necessary changes in the absence of the account owner/master admin.
Once you've added your members, you can also Assign Cards/Tags/Fobs to them!
Managing the Kisi System
With your members able to unlock your doors with Kisi, it is now time to truly hone your Dashboard skills by adding all the remaining bells and whistles that you'd like.
Customize Your Kisi by adding your company logo to your dashboard and app.
Set Unlock Schedules to keep certain doors unlocked during the times you specify.
Configure Kisi Smart Alerts and Notifications to stay on top of all the events you wish to track within your building.
Integrate Kisi with your existing software and/or hardware. If an integration does not yet exist for your application, you can build your own with our Open API.
Whatever you need, Kisi has you covered! If you have any questions, our Knowledge Base is a great resource for new admins/users. You can also feel free to contact Kisi Support.
