Basic Setup
Kisi devices are Internet-connected - they are wired back to the IT infrastructure so the involvement of IT (especially when outsourced) isn’t recommended. Otherwise, it could happen that the IT team makes a switch on their configuration and the devices fall offline. Connecting with an Ethernet(CAT5/CAT6) cable is preferred, but Kisi works with Wifi as well.
Troubleshooting
If yo are having connectivity issues with your Kisi Controller Pro 1, standard troubleshooting steps can be found here.
If you are having connectivity issues with your Kisi Reader Pro, testing with PoE(Power over Ethernet) injector can help rule out your switch as being responsible for any issues. If issues persist, standard troubleshooting steps can be found here.
In order to install Kisi services, your IT department should be aware of:
- This article: Advanced Networks
- installing an IP connected access control system
- it does not need network access - only internet
- they can put it on a VLAN
- Tell IT to always inform about changes on the IT side that might affect you. If the network goes down, the Kisi devices will as well. Normally they should automatically get back up and running but it will still cause inconvenience.
