Reboot reader
Remote reboot works only for Kisi Reader Pro 2.1 and newer. You can manually restart any Kisi reader.
As a Kisi admin, you can request to reboot your Kisi Reader Pro 2.1 to resolve issues remotely.
Prerequisites
- Kisi Reader Pro 2.1 or newer
- Reader must be online
- Administrative access to your Kisi organization
Request a reboot
The reboot process should only take a few minutes. To reboot your reader, contact our support team at support@getkisi.com and request a reboot.
Manually restart a reader
Watch the video guide to see how to manually restart a reader by dismounting it, unplugging it, plugging it back in, and remounting it.
- Remove the security screw at the bottom of the reader using the hex key provided in the reader kit
- Slide the reader down and take it off the aluminium mounting frame
- Gently pull the cable out of the wall to reach the connection
- Unplug the CAT6 cable or low voltage wires from the reader
- Wait at least 5 minutes
- Plug the CAT6 cable or low voltage wires back into the reader
- Insert the reader into the aluminium mounting frame and slide it up into place
- Secure the reader by reinstalling the security screw
- Wait for the reader to come back online, which can take a few minutes
If the cable doesn't have enough slack to reach the connection, either free up more cable slack inside the wall or reach into the wall to unplug the cable at the connection. Alternatively, unplug the other end of the cable from the PoE switch, or for low voltage wiring, disconnect the wires from the power supply.
