Apple Passes

Kisi supports Apple Wallet, allowing users to conveniently store their Kisi credentials (Apple Passes) in the Wallet app and access facilities using their iPhone or Apple Watch. To unlock doors, users simply need to bring their iPhone or Apple Watch in close proximity to the relevant reader–no Kisi mobile app or any additional permissions required.

info
  • Access to Apple Passes is granted explicitly to organizations that have Single-Sign On (SSO) with multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled, and a valid and activated Apple Pass subscription.
  • Please note that managed Apple IDs are currently not supported by Apple.

Apple Passes can be added by users themselves without any involvement from Kisi admins. Users can add a pass to themselves at any time. However, the pass alone does not grant access to the doors unless the necessary permissions have been provided.

Prerequisites

  • Organization using Single Sign-On (SSO) with multi-factor authentication
  • Active Apple Pass subscription
  • Doors with Reader Pro 2.1 installed
  • Enabled Tamper protection on the reader
  • iPhone running iOS 17 or higher
  • Up to date Kisi iOS app (version 46.0 or higher)

Manage Apple Passes

As an admin, you have control over Apple Passes and can disable them for any user after they have been provisioned.

  1. Sign in to Kisi
  2. On your organization dashboard, go to Credentials
  3. Choose the Apple Passes tab
  4. Under Devices, review where each Apple Pass has been activated (iPhone/Apple Watch)
  5. Click on the Apple Pass you wish to edit
  6. Depending on your preferences, click on Delete or Suspend
  7. Confirm your choice

Apple Passes on Apple Watch

Once the Apple Pass has been added to the mobile device, it will automatically sync with the Apple Watch if the watch is unlocked during the addition process. If the watch is locked for any reason during this time, the user will need to redo the steps.

info

Each pass can only be associated with one iPhone and one additional Apple Watch. If added to a new device, the pass on the previous device becomes invalid. Once the Apple Pass has been added, users are not required to have the Kisi mobile app installed anymore.

Supported unlock methods

Apple Passes only support Tap to Unlock. If users want to use MotionSense, they must have the Kisi mobile app installed and Bluetooth enabled.

Customized Apple Passes

By default, Apple Passes will feature the Kisi design. If you want to use your own company design and logo, please send the following details to Kisi Support:
